Always wipe any stains off instantly
If you feel that you have a sofa which is clean and does not require total wash, then beware of spots and stains. If you find a stain or see a stain getting placed of your upholstery fabric, then try removing it instantly. This is because, the longer you leave the spot the more deeper and difficult to remove it would get. So, it is always better to clear off them the moment they appear or the moment you spot them. You can always use a wipe cloth, baby wipes or just a normal, simple and a clear piece of clothing with a bit of water. Just do not attack the surface or the spot, just blot around it to clear it off. Also, do not rub too hard over the surface. This is also a great way to keep your sofa fabric clean on a regular basis.
Use the correct solvents and solution
Some upholstery material is only meant for dry cleaning, so avoid using water on them. This is because, materials, which are clearly not meant for that, will get ruin and spoilt if you apply water on them. Hence, be very careful about it. Also, you can use various types of solvents and liquids which are available to remove stains, even for the dry cleaning materials. Yes, these solvents and solutions have liquid, but they do not contain any traces of water, so it is very safe. These solution and solvents are there so that you do not have to wipe your cloth hard to remove stains. These act just like a detergent in a washing machines, only, they are very light and mild in nature. Also, always try to dry off the solution and the solvent rather than rinsing the upholstery. Give it time and air, do not use full powered hair dryers to dry them, it will ruin the surface.
